An easy way to experince sovjet style sauna, banya, is to take a fast ferry to Estonia. Banyas were introduced to the Estonians during the Russian occupation and are very different compared to the traditional Estonian sauna culture which is similar to neighbouring countries like Latvia, Lithuania and Finland.
